The linked study below was done by the USA National Health Institute. This was a study carried out on obese patients with diabetes and cholesterol issues. The all were put on a high fat ketogenic diet which consisted of 30g Carbs, 1g per kg (optimal) body weight protein 20% Saturated Fats, 80% Polyunsaturated Fats and Monounsaturated Fats. In their own words, the objective of the study:
“To determine the effects of a 24-week ketogenic diet (consisting of 30 g carbohydrate, 1 g/kg body weight protein, 20% saturated fat, and 80% polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat) in obese patients.”
At the end of the 24 weeks, not only did they all “significantly” lose weight, their cholesterol significantly improved and so did their glucose levels.
